What is Leaf Septoria?

Leaf Septoria, or yellow leaf spot, manifests as small yellow or brown spots with dark margins on the lower leaves, gradually progressing upwards. This disease can cause leaves to yellow and die, stressing the plant and stunting its growth.

Symptoms of Leaf Septoria

The primary symptom is the appearance of yellow spots with brown edges, which can turn black as the disease progresses. These spots usually start on the lower leaves and can quickly spread, leading to widespread damage if untreated.

 

Prevention

Preventing Leaf Septoria is essential for maintaining healthy cannabis plants and maximising yield.

 

• Controlling Humidity:

Maintaining optimal humidity levels is crucial. During the vegetative stage, keep humidity between 50%-70%, and reduce it to 40%-50% during flowering. High humidity fosters fungal growth, so invest in a dehumidifier and use fans for air circulation.

• Ensuring Good Air Circulation:

Proper airflow prevents fungal infections like Leaf Septoria. Avoid overcrowding plants, prune excess foliage, and remove dead leaves. Ensure your grow space has adequate ventilation to create an inhospitable environment for pathogens.

• Using Mulch:

Apply a layer of organic mulch, such as straw or wood chips, around the base of your plants. Mulch acts as a barrier, preventing fungal spores from splashing onto the leaves, especially during wet conditions.
